Get ready for the fastest, most exciting Firecracker 5K yet!

The 2016 Manistee Firecracker 5K will be held Saturday, July 2nd in conjunction with the Manistee Area Forest Festival.  Once again we'll have a 5K run/walk and a 1K fun run.  Proceeds from the race go to support the construction of a new Manistee community track, which is happening this year!

Jingle Bell Jog 2015 is coming

The 2015 Jingle Bell Jog 5K will be Dec. 5th, 10am at Kennedy Elementary.  All proceeds to benefit the Manistee Cross-country program.

New this year - we are offering Tech-Shirts!  High quality, long-sleeve, with moisture management fabric, perfect for running.  Add $5 to your registration.  Or you may choose the traditional cotton long-sleeve T, or a specially designed hat with our race logo!

2015 Firecracker 5K was a blast!

On a gorgeous morning, the 2015 Manistee Firecracker 5K had well over 300 runners and walkers finish the 5K run/walk and 1K fun run!  The annual event, which raises funds and awareness for the community track fund, was held July 4th at Manistee High School.  Don Richmond (former CMU runner) won in 16:24, nearly a minute faster than runner-up John Lipa (top male master).  For the ladies, Ms. Track & Field Michigan and Gatorade 2015 Track Athlete of the Year Annie Fuller took first in 20:30.  Top female masters Kim Poma finished at 22:25.  Overall winners got trophies and gift certificates to Snyder's Shoes.  Age group winners took home plaques, while runner-ups got medals.  All fun runners got a finish medal!  Runners enjoyed food, courtesy of Family Fare, after the race.

Thanks to all the athletes that competed and thank you all volunteers that made this a successful event!  Michiana Timing once again had instant results thanks to their chip-timing system.

Manistee Firecracker 5K heats up July 4th, 2015

The annual Manistee Firecracker 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fun Run will take place July 4th, 2015, during the annual Manistee National Forest Festival.  Races begin at 8am.  The event will once again benefit the Manistee Area Track Supporters.  Registration links and more info is coming soon.

Great weather for this year's race - low 30's and partly sunny conditions greeted 125 runners and walkers.

Top runners were Buddy Elf (aka John Lipa) in 17:25 and Erin Dorn in 22:09.  Top walkers were Gary Chisholm (39:30) and Marilyn Gross (44:22).
