Celebrate the Fourth at the 2026 Manistee Firecracker 5K!

Looking for a fun, healthy, and community-centered way to kick off your Independence Day celebrations? The Manistee Firecracker 5K Run/Walk is back, and it’s one of the best traditions of the summer!

Whether you’re a serious runner chasing a personal best, a casual walker looking for a scenic morning outing, or a family wanting to enjoy the holiday together, the Firecracker 5K has something for everyone.

This year’s event takes place at Manistee Middle/High School, Saturday July 4th, with the 1K Fun Run beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk starting at 8:15 a.m. The course features a rolling scenic loop through beautiful Manistee neighborhoods with views of the beach before returning to the school for the finish.

One of the best parts of this race is the atmosphere. You’ll see competitive runners, families pushing strollers, kids doing their first race, longtime community supporters, and visitors enjoying a classic Manistee holiday tradition. It’s competitive if you want it to be — but welcoming to everyone.

Participants in the 5K will compete for awards in multiple age divisions, including overall male and female winners, masters divisions for runners 40 and older, and top finishers in 16 different age groups. Every participant in the 1K Fun Run receives a medal and T-shirt, making it a great option for younger runners and families.

All entrants receive a specially designed commemorative cotton T-shirt, and runners can upgrade to a moisture-wicking tech shirt for just $5 more.

Even better, your registration supports a great local cause. Proceeds from the race benefit the Manistee Area Track Supporters and help maintain our community track for local athletes, students, and residents.
