Chris Grabowski Invitational 2012

Nearly 80 boys in the first race

Jonny heads to a record!
The Manistee boys and girls XC teams ran to 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the 8 school field of the 2012 Chris Grabowski Memorial Invitational.  Hosted by Manistee and named for the late Chippewa state finalist, the meet was run in cool, windy conditions, but thankfully the rain stopped just prior to the first race.

The Chip boys, led by Jarret Deisch's 7th place 18:05, got their first trophy of the year by finishing second to state-ranked MCC.  Jonny Bailey got his name on the school's record board, as his time of 18:14 makes him the 5th fastest Chip boy all-time on their home course behind MHS.

The Chip girls had some outstanding times on their way to 3rd place.  Annie Fuller continued her winning ways, taking her 4th straight race with a sophomore record time of 19:07.  Ashley Lindeman's 3rd place time of 20:11 was only 1 second off of Fuller's freshman record time, and it makes her the 3rd fast Chip girl on the home course.  Most of the runners, boys and girls, ran their fastest times ever at home, despite the nasty weather.

Other runners with PR's included Kaitlin Helminski (over a 2 minute drop!), Tyla Tarnowski, Mallory Stefanski, and Eduardo Mattos (over 1:30 faster than before!), and Alex Lindeman (21st in the JV race - 19:01).
