MS XC in action at Scottville, HS goes to Fremont this weekend

As the HS prepares for their first 5K XC race of the year this Saturday at the Hill & Bale in Fremont, the MS started their season with a race at the Leanna Geers Invitational in Scottville.  24 of the 25 Manistee runners were running their first school race ever!  The top boy finisher was the lone veteran, Mason Callesen, who finished 10th overall in 3000M race 12:10, while 7th grader Erin Dorn was the top girl in 15:13.  Seven 6th graders ran a great 1500M race too!

Middle School Meet Schedule

High school practices are going daily on weekdays starting Aug. 14th generally from 6-7pm, while middle school practice starts Monday Aug. 26th from 4:30-5:30.  Once school starts practices will be held after school.

Firecracker 2013 Results!

Beautiful weather and great turnout today!  Over 350 runners/walkers in the 5K and 1K races.   Thanks to all that participated, all that helped out, and Michiana Timing for the super-fast results.

Manistee Firecracker 5K 2013 is coming up!

The 2013 Manistee Firecracker 5K Run/Walk will be here soon!  This year's date for the annual event is Saturday, July 6th, once again starting at 8am with the 1K fun run.  The 5K run/walk begins at 8:15.  Chip timing will again be provided by Michiana Timing.  Specially designed T-shirts from Sports Ink come with each paid registration.  Awards are given to the top overall finishers and the top masters' runners.  Plaques are given to the winners of each age group, with 2nd and 3rd place finishers receiving medals.

H.A.M. it Up 5k results - 2013

Over 50 runners took to the streets to run the 4th annual 2013 H.A.M. it Up 5K on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  The event, which helps to kick off Healthy, Active, Manistee Week, was sponsored by the Manistee Recreation Association and Zeller & Johnson Chiropractic.  Dozens of girls from across the county joined in on the festivities, as the annual Girls on the Run 5K was held on the same course just moments after the HAM runners took off.

Jay Shillinger of Ludington was the first male finisher in 20:09, just ahead of Jim Keirlor (20:23), while Marit Ecker of Manistee was the first female (20:45) to cross the line in 3rd overall.

The race was held at Manistee High School, with race proceeds donated to the Manistee Track Fund.

Two of our top walkers - a mother / son duo!

The 5th annual Manistee Jingle Bell Jog was held December 8th, 2012.  Over 140 runners and walkers took part in the annual event, held during the Manistee Old Victorian Christmas weekend.  Overall winners were none other than Sinter Klass (John Lipa of Ludington - second straight year) and Annie Fuller of Manistee.  Top walkers were Gary Chisolm and Marilyn Gross.
